Oh my stars!!!

How I have missed writing daily and you all here!

Man things have been busy the past couple of months.

I started a full time job and that has kept me

running around from 6:30 am til I pass out some time around 9:00pm!

And recently we got a new addition to our little family!

Meet

Tuna!

Tuna is our new Shephard/ridgeback mix baby that was rescued from a kill shelter.

Although we have only had him for just over a week he has grabbed hold of both our hearts with his little-big paws!

He has been so good with everything

(although he gets in to his fair share of trouble just like a little boy)

Who We Are:

Creative Soup (creativesoup.forumotion.com) is a scrapbook challenge forum whose goal is to challenge and inspire scrapbookers to create, create, create!

Creative Soup has several challenges and events to help people get their mojo going!

1. Mojo Mondays: Weekly challenges that rotate between four different kinds of challenges (AAM, Sketch, Inspiration, and Random). You can learn more about these challenges here:creativesoup.forumotion.com/creative-soup-preview-f10/mon...

2. Quarterly Classes: We offer one free quarterly class with detailed format instructions and journaling prompts where scrapbookers can follow along online.

3. Fun inspirational threads that post each week including: Talk Tuesday (journaling prompt), Web Wednesday (cool sites to check out), Font Friday (featured online free font), and Snapshot Sunday (photography challenges/ideas)

4. The forum: unlike most challenge blogs, this site offers communities where people can chat, ask questions, and share their creations.

Why You Should Apply!

This is a free forum so there is no true compensation. This site is meant to be a fun, friendly place where people encourage each other in this great hobby! But there are several great reasons to join the team!

1. The Experience - if you have always wanted to be on a design team this is a great way to get experience that you can add to your scrappy resume! I am always happy to recommend people who have been on my design teams for other teams.

2. The Challenge - nothing helps keep you motivated as much as a being on a team with a commitment! Our challenges are creative and fun and will be sure to help push your creativity.

3. The Community - we are lucky enough to have a great group of people who are active and supportive of each other. It truly is a fun and welcoming site! We promise a drama-free zone where you can just enjoy yourself!

4. At the end of each quarter the site founders will send the Creative Team members who completed their challenges and duties a little thank you gift from us.

The Creative Team Requirements:

1. To create 1-2 projects per month for our challenges. Each team member will be assigned 1 challenge in advance that they must complete. If something comes up and you cannot do the challenge on time we ask that you find someone to swap challenges with or someone to cover for you. You are encouraged to do at least one additional challenge of your choice but this is not required.

2. Participate on the forum by checking in a few times a week and posting ideas, layouts, and responses to members’ questions or threads. You are not required to be on the forum every day... but we do hope to see a regular presence on the board.

3. Positively represent the board by sharing links to the site where you can (including blogs and forums) and by conducting yourself on the forum in a friendly manner.

4. Creative Team term is 3 months (April-Jun 2011), with an option to extend to 6 months if both sides choose. Members can serve no more than six consecutive months on the Creative Team as we like to keep the Creative Team fresh!

How to Apply: *Due Friday March 11th*

1. Projects: please send 3 favorite projects to creativesoupforum@gmail.com. These projects must be your original work. At least 2 should be layouts. We would love to see something non-layout like a mini or a card, but a third layout is fine if you prefer to do layouts. You may send more than one photo per layout if you like. *These can be existing projects in your gallery. No need to create new projects for the call*

2. Link to your online gallery and blog if you have one.

3. List of other design team obligations, if any.

4. Why you want to join our Creative Team

5. What you like to create: layouts, size preference, mini's, cards, etc. Please include if you like to do sketch challenges or not. It’s okay if you don't!

Who doesnt love Mardi Gras!?

I just love this time of year!

Mardi Gras is my second favorite holiday right next to Halloween.

After my first visit to New Orleans last June I have been hooked

ever since!

This past Saturday I went to a Mardi Gras themed crop

at my favorite LSS

A Scrap in Time!

I got SO MUCH done at the crop!

I started and finished my honeymoon (Almost 2 years later )

and got a few of my husbands military LOs done so I was quite happy. On top of all that there was awesome food, great girls and I even won some new punches!

Happy Valentines Day to you all!

I had a busy weekend with a crop over at Creative Soup that I was running with the

other wonderful DT girls!

Even though the crop is over you can still have fun with a couple of my projects that

I made just for this love filled day!

While trying to think up a fun challenge for you all to do I was working on this LO. I figured what a better time to do a LO about doing things you love with those you love than during the holiday of love!?

Topic:

Something you love doing with someone you love!

Challenge:

Create a LO using at least 90% non-traditional Valentine colors as well as the same

photo more than once! Minimum journaling requirement of 20 words.

Oh my stars!!! I NEED this...

So I stumbled upon this just now while doing some blog hopping and I am in love!

First of all this video is epic and makes me want to start one right now, so props to them for that!

However they dont come out until APRIL

(perfect... just in time for my birthday!)

And I think the glue "pen" attachment is just awesome...

I can throw the book in my purse and always have it with me AND be able

to work on it while out and about!

wow....

That is how this makes me feel.

The video starts with books that have been done for various events or just to keep. I used to make books just like this all through middle school and highschool. But their book just makes things seem more do-able, portable, inspiring... okay enough rambling...

My "Lucky Me" Mini reveal!

Its finally time!!!
Time to Reveal my "Lucky Me" Mini!!!

First of all I just want to say how much fun I had making this mini! Its such a great idea that Bree came up with and I really spent a lot of time with

it. At first I wasnt sure if I was going to stick with the style of construction but I decided that I wanted to because I havent made a book like this before. Now that I am finished I wish that the book wasnt quite so bulky on the right side of the book but when its standing up displayed its really lovely.

I went with my typical style throughout a good portion of my book. I love chic, romantic, lots of flourishes, paired with lost of fun elements as well. I used far too many companies to remember off the top of my head (although I kept a running supply list for each and every page so if anyone wants to know what is by who just ask!)

I cant wait to see what all of you make, I know there will be some amazing work!

Finally Friday: A birthday and a cupcake!

Happy happy birthday to my one and only

Hubby!

My dear sweet husband turns the ripe ole' age of 23 today!

I just love birthdays... who doesn't!?

All this recent talk of birthdays around our household got me thinking of

cake, specifically :

CUPCAKES !

Who doesn't just love cupcakes to itty bitty little pieces!?

Well I have for you all a tutorial for the cutest little cupcake pincushion!

Laundry detergent cap Cupcake pincushion tutorial

Items needed

one piece of white craft felt
cotton balls
good scissors
2 types of ribbon
small hair elastic or rubber band
One white or green pipe cleaner
American Crafts Memory Maker double sided marker in LEAF (this is if you are using a white pipe cleaner)
colourful pins. (I used the 80 count ball point pins by Prym creative. I got these at Wal-Mart for under $2.00 I prefer these because they are the colour of sprinkles!)
Tombo Mono multi liquid glue or any other liquid glue
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Laundry detergent cap. ( I used the one from an Arm & Hammer bottle of detergent+softener, I chose it for the pink colour!)
One red button or bead on the medium to large side

Step one

Fill your detergent cap with a handful of cotton balls so that they create a dome

shape that will resemble icing.

Step Two

Cover your cotton filled cap with your white felt and wrap your elastic around it to

hold the dome shape in place. Press the shape of the cupcake into your felt then remove from your cap.

Step Three

Cut the shape that was pressed into your felt out and set it aside after making sure that it will come down the

the bottom lip of your cap.

Then remove half of your cotton balls and put them back in the bag. With the other half you will want to shred them until they are soft and fluffy almost doubling in volume.

Cut several squares out of your left over felt. you will then refill your cap with first the shredded cotton then your felt strips.

Step Four

Once your cap is filled and resembles the correct shape, cover it with your felt circle and glue all of the edges in place with your hot glue gun.

Step Five

Once you have secured your felt you will then glue strips of ribbon around the edges of the cap to hide the messy ends of the felt. This will give your cupcake a cute frilly look!

Step Six

Take your pipe cleaner and bend it into the shape of two small leaves with a stem. Cut the excess off and set aside.

If you are using a white pipe cleaner you will then color it with your American Crafts marker. Now take your button or bead and thread your pipe cleaner through and adhere it to the top center of your cupcake's frosting to make the cherry on top!

Step Seven

squirt a small dollop of your liquid glue onto some scrap paper and run the pointy ends of your pins

in the glue.

Then press your pins into your felt to secure the felt further and create your cupcake's sprinkles!

Now you have an adorable Cupcake pincushion!

These make the cutest gifts for just about anything and they are so easy to make!

Starbucks altered item goodness!

Happy 2011!

What better way to start off the new year than with not only

a repurposed item

but a GREEN repurposed item!

Here is my altered Starbucks Coffee sleeve turned into a gift card holder!

This is a new technique that I am trying out.

I had a lot of fun playing around with this and also

love that it is a green project! I drink copious amounts of coffee and have been collecting the sleeves for weeks now so that I can do a few fun things with them and I have tons of them!

I used all scrap paper and things that I had in my stash! I didn't have to go out and buy anything at all (well except for the coffee and gift card)

to make this with and I love how it came out!

What better way to give someone a Starbucks gift card than with a handmade themed gift card holder, all while being green!

How cute is it !?

Merry Christmas!

Hi there and Merry Christmas!

Last night we went to our good friends house for Christmas Eve dinner. A bunch of military boys and their wives all get together whenever
we can and as usual it was a wonderful time! This was the first year that we didn't do something at our house

because we have just moved and aren't even close to being done unpacking let alone having dinner here! I am glad that we got to

at least get a picture in front of our friends beautiful tree for my album seeing as how we don't have one!

This year is the first Christmas without my Nana. She passed away earlier this year and she is missed greatly. I wanted to do something special to keep her

spirit alive and make her a part of our Christmas this year. My Nana was an AMAZING cook and every year when we were kids we always would look forward to all of the

goodies that we knew she could bring to our house on Christmas day! This year I decided to make her coveted Black Moons to bring to dinner at our friends

house (and an extra batch for me to keep at our new house for us to munch on of course!) As always they were a HUGE hit and got all gobbled up by our friends, I did however manage to snap a few pictures

before we left the house!

I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, happy holidays and an amazing new year!

Well... Its finally here

PACKING TIME

The next couple of days will consist of my husband and I stuffing our whole house into little boxes

and whatnot. Can I just say that so far I have only gotten some of my Scrap room packed...

Its never ending I swear.

However before I had to pack it all up I managed a couple of quick layouts

Just a couple of things to tide my Blog over until I am unpacked, set up in the new house and can create once again! I will be up within the next week or so with pictures from the move and over the new place so please check back. But for now, I have already spent too much time taking this break to write instead of packing and cleaning so off I go!

Are you a messy crafter?

Happy Monday morning everyone!

I hope that you all had a fabulously crafty weekend filled with holiday goodness.

So I was roaming around of the TwoPeas forums this morning;

its a to be taken with coffee daily kind of thing for me of course.

And one of the posts I came across sparked my interest and seemed perfect for todays post.

Are you a neat crafter or a messy one?!

The answer is

I am an insanely messy crafter... When I am working on a project its like I go mad and don't see the messes I'm making for myself. I pull whatever I need out of where ever it came from and sometimes close the drawers or cabinets.

I have this pile of stuff that grows and grows to the left of me on my rather large work space... and it doesn't end there, the mess usually transfers on over to me! I will have stickles under my nails, photo square backings clinging to my apron (thank god for my apron otherwise Whoooo doggy!)

Acrylic paints up one forearm and stamped images up the other, adhesive all over my hands and of course various sticky bits and doodads stuck to the bottoms of my feet for good measure...

But then right as I am about to implode upon seeing the mess I have to clean up before I can begin the next day on some new excursion, I tilt my coffee towards my room touched by a mini tornado in salute and down the sucker in one gulp... time to get to work!

Isn't being messy half of the fun, and creative process?!

I almost wouldn't have it any other way... almost, I mean if someone were to offer me a family of magical craft room cleaning elves I wouldn't turn them down...lets not get crazy here...

But yes... I am indeed a messy crafter, and I wouldn't have it any other way :)

Good morning everyone!

Man is it getting cold here in NW Florida, and I must say: Its about time!!!

We are well into December and some days I swear I still am forced to go out in capris and a Tshirt.

*SIGH*

Not very Christmasy if you ask me.

I have been super busy around my house finishing up a few last min orders

and whatnot. Some very easy to do (although quite time consuming)

calendars.

People have been ordering them left and right, they wanna get geared up for January 2011 in style!

I made these using the DCWV kit and love how they came out!

How adorable!?

Very simple and straight forward.

I didn't want too much mush on them or they would be too heavy to hang.

Just a quick update for you all!

there will be info up on a wonderful auction that a girlfriend of mine is putting on

for her non-profit charity called

A Touch of A Hero

She makes wonderful little crafts, hair accessories etc.

using materials from military uniforms.

All proceeds go towards buying phone cards for our troops over seas!

And this time of year is when a lot of families most want to talk with their loved ones!

Goood morning folks!

I have some amazing weather out here this morning, bright and sunny its putting me

in quite the mood.

Not to mention that I got a bit crafty with my coffee this morning... created a

lovely festive little beverage if I do say so myself!

(and I do)

I made up a very simple little girls mini-album for

I am not able to do one this year because we are moving to a new house in

a couple of weeks.

I can't even decorate !!!

Yes awful I know. But I cant wait to move... it will be wonderful.

Its just that living in Florida, it already doesn't feel like Christmas to this New England girl!

Now add no decorations or presents or anything, it might as well be June.

I would loooove to see some festive happiness being made my the hands of my wonderful

Now for the recipe!

* Dunkins holiday mocha mint coffee grounds

(can be found at any grocery store or wal-mart this

time of year... and yes I have to get my Dunkins fix some how because in this

state the closest Dunkins is a few hours drive for me *gasp*)

* Any hot cocoa you prefer

*cream

*heavy whipping cream

*sugar

*cinnamon

*candy canes ( for parties or coffee with friends)

Brew coffee

blend 1 cup heavy whipping cream and 4 T sugar until stiff peaks form

Prepare your coffee as usual only add 2 T cocoa powder

top with your home made whipped cream

sprinkle with cinnamon

garnish with candy cane and serve!

Looove this!

Lordy me!

I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off here lately!

Between cooking like a mad woman, the holidays, working on orders

finding a house and all of the drama that goes

along with that and having to think

about getting ready to pack everything up here soon...

Im being ran ragged!

I did however manage to get a few quick layouts of our hiatus up north done.

They are quite lovely and they make me happy!

Yay!

So I went to one of my favorite LSS for their black Saturday sale.

I got a few wonderful goodies

and they were giving out free goodie bags with every purchase.

How totally awesome is that for a free goodie bag!?

Well everyone, its upon us! Thanksgiving week... Let the cooking and house cleaning begin!

I have to say that I am excited for Thanksgiving this year even though it is

just going to be my husband and I along with our two spoiled cats Stinky and Weenie.

I would love to be scrapping everything that goes on but I just wont have the time to do so given the fact that we are moving into a new home in mid December.

Now my dilemma is deciding on when to pack up my scrap studio... I work from home scrapbooking and making custom cards invites, mini-books etc and am unsure about how to do this.

I cant just up and pack up all my supplies during the busiest card and sales time of the year!?

However I am super interested in knowing what everyone else will be up to this Thanksgiving week? Please make this week all about your Thanksgiving crafts, cards, layouts and pictures as well as stories and even your favorite recipes to share with everyone!

As you all know I love comments they make me sooooo happy!

Okay so life has been so totally wicked non-stop crazy since I have been back from my northern hiatus!

I have been swamped with orders left and right getting a handful

of new ones every couple of days or so.

( That's amazing for lil' ole me)

On top of all that I have been taking care of the infamous Stinky.

She is doing worlds better now thankfully but the Vet said it would take up to 6+

months for her to heal and she may never have use of her tail again.

I am just thrilled shes walking and can go potty on her own!

Aaaand the rest was history, next thing you know I am making up whole packs

of tags for people to buy to their hearts desire.

I nearly swoon from cuteness overload each time I look at them!

On top of all this fun, last night I made some of what I think will be my favorite Christmas cards

of this whole season... yes its wonderful I know!

However, those I will be saving for tomorrows post... I cant let you in on all of my fun at once

that would be craziness!

Im alive I swear it !!! Back from my northern hiatus, and all in one piece even!

I am officially back from my month long hiatus to New England. Goodness that was such an amazing trip, right in the midst of Autumn on top of it all!

I will absolutely have layouts and pics up for you all shortly ( as soon as I finish unpacking that is, it seems to be taking forever!) I so badly want to just dive in and get my hands dirty with creative and scrappy goodness. But alas, I am back and there are things to be done! One of the things on my to-do list was of course to get my blog once again back up and running!

Then it was of high importance that I got my personal scrapbooking business up and running and taking orders again. (which I have been SWAMPED with, today was my first actual day back at work in my studio and I think people have been waiting because as soon as I announced my return I got FLOODED with orders... YAY!)

Unfortunately there will be no actual scrapping for a couple of days. I still have some unpacking and cleaning to do, including clothes, goodies and loads of super fun scrapbooking supplies that I got while back home.

All of that and we came home late Friday night to find our poor Stinky baby got severely injured while we were making the 1500 mile drive back to Florida.

The vet says that she is suffering from blunt force spinal trauma!!!

Our guess is she got scared when our friend came over to feed and care for them and jumped out of our high

window in the kitchen and fell rather than landed.

I havent slept for days between worrying and giving her meds, bringing her to the potty and

constantly watching her.

NOT the homecoming I had in mind.

Poor Stinky (that is her nickname, her actual name is Lady haha) laying down after
her trip to the emergency vet because
that is pretty much all she can do for now.

What are the rest of you up to, and what has everyone been up to while Ive been gone, I feel like there is loads of catching up to do!

My little New England adventure has been nothing short of AMAZING so far.

I do love being up here more than anything but it honestly doesn't leave much time for blogging.

I have been so busy with activities and with visiting family that

So I had to force myself this morning to go out and get my oil changed for this loooong drive.

It was such a painful task that I figured a reward was in order.

So off to my local DQ I went!

Home made glue dots and my Kitteh

Yet another glorious day here in the Gulf of Mexico!

The weather is absolutely to die for and I just cant help but throw all of my windows open and sit

right out on my balcony watching the ocean as I write this...

Autumn on the Ocean is a strange creature I tell you.

The air is crisp and carries the smell of sunshine, cool mornings and colorful foliage but the ocean

is still its stunning self with its bright emerald and teal waters.

I am enjoying this gorgeous morning with a hot cup of coffee and one of my little critters to keep me company.

Shes such a sweet little thing.

So, this morning for Tip Me Tuesday I have for you the miraculous method of

making your own glue dots!!!

How excited are you right now because I know when I discovered this I was giddy.

Okay its alarmingly simple and take just a short amount of time.

Materials needed:

*Aleenes tack it over and over glue

*waxed paper

Step one

Tear off a strip of waxed paper a couple of inches wide.

Step Two

Make a few rows of dots.
These can be any size, large, small or you can even make the lined glue dots!

Step Three

Once they are dry (it takes about an hour and a half for them to be good and dry)
simply fold the waxed paper over and start all over with a new batch!
These are so easy to make and store!

How awesome is that!?

I hope you enjoy and save lots of money with this neat little trick because I know I have already!

(These glue dots were used to make the Halloween card I made the other day

for world card making day!!!)

First entry in my scrap journal and a chilly morning!

Its been a fairly productive Monday so far. The hubby had to work days today as opposed to his

usual night shift so things are a bit wacky.

I got up bright and early this morning to pop my head outside of my slider & visit the ocean to find that it was shockingly cold!

Now I know its October and everything but to wake up in sunny Florida to discover that its a balmy 46*

out is quite a shock! But to be honest I couldn't be more pleased about the change in Weather, I would much rather it be chilly out and throw on a comfy sweatshirt than sweat my fanny off!

I just wanted to update today with a quick post about my first entry in my scrap journal that I made a few weeks ago. It took me a little bit to get around to doing something with it being so busy getting ready for vacation, but I finally did!

Manic Monday

Happy Monday !

I hope that you all had a great weekend, mine was full of not sleeping and laundry unfortunately.

I did however go to my first estate sale with a fellow Military wife

and was on the hunt for some scrappy supplies that were listed on Craigslist.

Unfortunately the sale started last weekend so we missed loads of good stuff

BUT!

I still got a few things for a steal!

I git all of these goodies for TWO DOLLARS !!!

How pretty are those doilies!

And that Tack it over and over.. I have been searching high and low at

Joann's, AC MOORE and Ms and couldn't find it anywhere, I was just about to order it online

but then I found a Brand new bottle for .75 and 35% off of that!

Although I didn't get nearly as much as I was hoping for I am still happy that I got brand new adhesive, pretty doilies and paper sewing needs for cheaper than cheap!

I will be posting pictures of the next layout that I use the doilies on I am sure.

But for now here are a few very simple cards that I just put together for an order.

ALSO I am SO EXCITED that I finally got the Uni Ball Signo white gel pen!!!

If you have been looking for this pen or any type of a white gel pen

I have seen this pen used on countless projects over at Two Peas and I have loved how it looks

for fake stitching and little hand drawn details.

I had a white paint pen that I got at first but it was just awful and wouldn't show up at all

on any of the papers that I used it on.

I got this pen over at Ebay for $5.00 including shipping, a bit steep for a pen but

trust me, you will not regret it. I have yet to use it on a project but tested it and am in lurve!!!

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF AUTUMN!

Good afternoon everyone!

I hope that you are all having a lovely Thursday so far.

I thought that I would share with you a few photos of a mini-book that I made for one of the

classes over at Two Peas.

My take on the Accordion album that was done for the mini-album a month: September.

I am very happy with how this came out! I only had a few photos printed out from my Bridal shower and didn't quite know what to do with them. Their numbers didn't warrant a regular min-book and when I came across this months design I knew it was perfect! My book however is double sided with photos and journaling spots on each panel. Just a little something simple to pass some time.

I am glad that I finally found a way to showcase these... my bridal shower was last May!

Ohhh How I wish that Fall was in the air! I live in Sunny (and brutally hot) Florida and the only

place that Fall resides is in my heart! I hear from my family and read on forum posts

about all of the wonderful Autumn activities starting and I simply sigh with envy!

Tip Me Tuesday - Scrapbooking storage solutions!

"Where do you put all the stuff you accumulate?

I am running out of places for my "newest" stash! I'm almost embarrassed by how much I have.

I love it all but finding ways to store it is more work then actually using the stuff! Help!!"

This was a question posted by a fellow Pea on Two Peas.

I have personally been asked this question time and time again so I though that this would

be a perfect post for Tip me Tuesday!

Over the past few years I have had to come up with some rather creative and unconventional

methods for storing my scrappy supplies.

Being a Military wife you can be moved at a moments notice and where you end up may not have the luxury for ample storage space for a scrap room! This is where you have to get crafty...no pun intended :)

*Hanging mesh or metal baskets can work wonders if you are okay with or able to put a few holes in your roof, they also come in fabric I think. *Behind the door shoe racks for punches, ribbon etc.

*Spinning spice racks for small embellies. These can sometimes be found at yard sales SUPER cheap!

*Get a couple of rolling caddies that you can store paper and stickers in that you can roll right under your work space or out of the way. *Cheap shelving sets can be found at Bed Bath and Beyond of Wal-Mart.

*Your traditional shoe box. These are great for themed storage and stack well. You can get

decorative ones at AC MOORE or Ms that look nice on shelves is you don't have closet space.

*Thin rods, dowels etc are great for storing ribbon! These can be screwed right into your walls at varying heights or hung in some way and will help you to organize your ribbon my colour, theme, material etc.

*Stamps, as we all know, take up an obscene amount of space! Depending on how frequently you stamp

be it on cards, layouts etc. you could store them handy to stored away neatly. One highly effective organizational solution that I swear by is stamping all your stamps on to paper that you will then organize into themes, seasons etc and put it in a 3 ring binder. There have been countless times that I have wanted to use a Halloween stamp, forget what I have, don't want to dig around for a half hour and just grab my binder!

*Store your prints in archival photo boxes to keep them in perfect condition while they wait to be scrapped. Create tabs for each topic or time range, making it easy to return to later.

*Pegboard.... I know immediate shudder! But wait! We can make it cute... yes cute! All you have to do is get your pegboard to your desired size and then to to Ms or another craft store and have is framed in a cute simple neutral frame. It creates a decorative storage unit that can match any decor! I recommend using white hooks and pain them if you would like.

I have used all of these and my life has been that much better because of them!

My weekend was an uneventful busy sort of weekend.

I have been participating in the Two Peas Back to school classes and have been enjoying myself so far!

I love all of the ladies and its such a wonderful community. If you haven't already

taken a gander over there be sure you make it a point today!

My most recent project that I completed over this weekend was for the

altered memo board/item class.

What I decided to go with was an altered journal.

It isn't a memo board but It has to so with school. I am an art major and I recycled one of my hard cover sketch books and altered it to make a Creative/Scrap journal.

Its just kind of something that I came up with as I went along. I have a feeling that it will consist of ideas for my scrapbook blog, random crafty journaling, layout ideas, LO sketches,new things that I discover and learn along my travels and diff personal scrappy stories etc.

I think it will be a fun learning experience.

Hello All!

I got what could maybe possibly be some amazingly fantastic news this afternoon.

One of the local High Schools in my area has what they call a Moms Club.

All of the mothers for the HS football and cheerleading teams get together and do mom-ish, PTA type activities that make the world go round for most kids and schools alike.

Its wonderful what some mothers will do to support their children and their schools!

There need to be more organizations like this.

I got a phone call from who I assume to be one of the head mothers asking me for all of my info

and inviting me to an open house type event that they are having as a vendor.

Unfortunately the event is the end of October and I will be gone on vacation.

BUT she says that all the moms want me to do books for them!!!

So I do believe that I will have an amazing "contract" with the HS Moms Club!

*insert little happy dance here*

On another note.

Here are a few pics of some of the finished and unfinished simple little

take homes that were done at the open house at my LSS the other night.

A little tag with a cute quote that we did. Love how the flower turned out,
the tag isn't really my style but its always good to try something new!
I cant remember the name of the woman who was teaching the tag
but great job!
Tattered Angels glimmer was used on the flower and the tag... LOVED IT !

Cute simple little Christmas card we did for one of the make and takes.
This was my first time using the I-rock believe it or not.
I wasn't overly impressed. It was handy but a little awkward to use.
The MS punch used for the bottom was a favorite of mine.

The front and back cover of what will maybe one day be a finished mini book.
I appreciate the fact that I got to play with pretty papers and was shown
how to use a new binding tool that I haven't seen in action before
but I would have preferred to leave this station with a finished product be it small and simple verses
an unfinished book. They had the stuffing of the book for sale, all the other pages embellies etc
but I really didn't have the budget to buy it all at the time.

Now I have a quick Layout that I LOVE that I did two nights ago as part of my night owl

status and putterings that I have been up to lately.

Tip Me Tuesday- A special HSN edition !!!

by Halloween goodies galore once again!

I have a little tip for you all today (well sort of)

As I am sure many of you already know

Today ALL day on HSN there is nothing but gorgeous new scrapbooking supplies

being showcased and demonstrated by fabulous people!

Well if you are an unlucky girl like me who doesn't get HSN through your cable provider, has a husband who MUST watch every second of ESPN while hes awake or if you are stuck at work

never fear!

HSN streams their show live!

I was SUPER duper excited when I found this out

and felt the need to share!

I have already seen SO many things that have reduced me to a drooling mess at my scrap table!

The Martha Stewart Halloween items are to DIE for!

(no pun intended)

And the new Cricket Imagine!?!?

*sigh*

Now on to more relevant tips and tricks.

Baby wipes- If you haven't discovered the amazingness of these little godsends yet

I urge you to get out and grab a few packages!

These, even the cheap store brand kind, work WONDERS for cleaning your

stamps. Both acrylic and wood mounted! I have seen the stamp cleaning pads

and sprays and the expensive MS brand wipes and I just cant bring myself to spend the

money on any of it. I was told about this little secret by my Nana a while ago

and it was one of the best things that she has ever done for

my crafty little life!

One of two wipes clean your stamp right up but they also

will get any tacky glue off of your work space or mat

and work well to do a quick clean off of your space when switching between projects

or for a quick tidying.

Cutting Mats for your Silhouette- We all know that having to buy those replacement

mats for your Silhouette can be both a pain in the neck and pricey! Thanks to a good friend of mine I

stumbled across an ingenious idea for a solution. During the holidays especially, but any time of the year you

can go to Wal-Mart and find those plastic place mats for children that

go on your kitchen table so they don't make a mess.

All you do is pick up one or two of these. Make sure that they are flat and smooth on the back side because this is the side that you will be using.

Take them home and trace your actual cutting mat onto the table mat and cut it to size.

Then with a Sharpie marker simply make the markings for where you line it up in your machine to match the original. Next you are going to take a can of repositionable adhesive.

I prefer the Best-Test brand. I find that it provides you with a secure hold that

also will easily let go of your card stock or whatever you are cutting when you are finished with it.

Then every now or then you can either wash your mat right in your kitchen sink with a bit of dish soap and some elbow work or just buy a new one for around a buck!

They will last forever before you have to replace or wash as well!

Happy GLORIOUS Friday to everyone!

Today is going to be an eventful day for me. Later this afternoon/early evening I am going to an
open house at my LSS and I am SO excited.
Real live grown women scrappy company!? As you can tell I haven't gotten out of the house much lately.
Working nights and sleeping days has cut into my life in a big way !
Anyways, this is the first function that I have been to that I wasn't either hosting or helping to run and
I am so looking forward to going, relaxing, enjoying myself, meeting new people and getting crafty!
I will be posting loads of pics etc tomorrow I am sure about tonights events.
Its ladies night at A Scrap In Time!!!

Now folks... on to some exciting new creations!!!

Since going on the night shift with the Hubby I have had LOADS of "me" time with which
to get my hands dirty! I have all these ideas swimming in my head and cant work fast enough to get all of them out it seems! After going out the other day and buying loads of goodies with the blessing of the spouse
I am on system overload!

I have started another book!!! I am soooo excited about this one.
I just got one of Pink Paislees artisan albums and I have been trying to figure out what I was gonna do with it. After finishing Steampunk/vintagey themed envelope mini-book I want to do something a bit lighter. I am thinking a cross between Marie Antoinette and my fairy tale ( all things that make me happy... scrapping, being married to my best friend, just life in general but super theatrical ) Something along those lines... what does everyone think?

Absolutely the love of my life at the moment!

Then again anything that I am working on is the love of my life it seems.

I am so excited about the direction of this book so far. It is going to be very detailed however and seeing

as how I have loads of orders that I am working on and will be on vacation for a month it may

be a little bit before this puppy is done. BUT I am okay with that because when it is angels will sing haha.

(my total lack of a regular sleep schedule is showing I do believe)

So on top of that little nugget of greatness.

I have made what I hope will be effective really cute little dishwasher signs.

I cant even begin to count the number of times that I have had to rewash the dishes because my husband put dirties in with the clean. Drives me batty! They are magnetic so they will just stick to it and be easy enough even for him to remember! lol

I cant even begin to contain my excitement over these little beauties!

The best part, the Hubby LOVES them and cracked up when I showed them to him.

Now I must be off so I can go get ready for my ladies night out on the scrappy town!

Over the weekend my dear sweet wonderful husband

took me out to AC MOORE and just let me start throwing

whatever caught my fancy into a cart.

That's love my friends.

We are a bit tight on monies until our next pay period so I was

a bit surprised when he suggested the trip!

BUT

AC MOORE had all DCWV 12x12 matstacks on sale for only 9.99!

How glorious is that !? Ill be honest, the one that I ended up with is not one that I ever though I would buy.

But the papers in it were really cute and made all these little lights go off in my head.

Anyways! Along with that I got a few things here and there that I want to get my hands on soon!

I found this neat box that I am just dripping with ideas for. I am picturing some sort of mini-book similar to

my Steampunk one but more of a girly, Marie Antoinette feel to it. Then the box to match and hold the album... I am just giddy with excitement!

(A little late) Tip Me Tuesday!

Oh its gonna be a late one here !

(for the next few months)

My dear husband has been moved to the night shift on base and

for the sake of his sleeping I

have made the decision to go on the shift with him!

*GASP!*

It shouldn't be TOO bad, I am a bit of a night

owl myself and tend to putt around long after he goes to bed.

It just means that I will be the

Scrap Bandit of the Night!

Soooo I have a nifty little trick up my sleeve for you all that I am happy to share!

I discovered this about a week ago by chance. I have recently gotten a bridge *shudder*

and there are these little plastic things called "threaders" that you use to help

you floss your toofs.

Well, I was having the hardest time getting a piece of thread through a button on day

for a layout that I was working on and this amazing thought popped into my head.

Use the threaders to get my string through the button.

Eeeek!

It worked like a champ and I have been using this method on SO MANY

things since then! Buttons, ribbon threading, embellishments etc.

Any brand as long as they look like these will do the trick!

Super cheap for a bunch of them and found at Wal-mart.

I have a looong night ahead of me now, time to get the coffee on!

So, Over this past weekend I created my version of liquid gold

Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Latte

I am so completely excited about this that I feel the need to share it

with all of you lovely people!

(that and I know that if at least half of you are like me, you scrap in to the wee

hours of the morning and start to crave coffee/Starbucks

as soon as you realize that they have closed because its

ohhhh 2:00 am)

So here is the Holy Grail of my most recent coffee adventures

Sara's Autumn Scrappin Fuel

Ingredients

Coffee grounds for 4 cups

I prefer Dunkins hazelnut non-decaf

2 tsp. of the McCormick brand pumpkin pie spice

2 tsp. Vanilla extract

If desired

Whipped cream

pure ground cinnamon

espresso

Directions

Prepare your coffee as usual.

Before turning coffee machine on sprinkle the pumpkin pie spice

and vanilla extract over the top of the

dry coffee grounds.

Let coffee warm in pot a few min after brewing is complete to really

let the flavor set in.

You can then add your espresso if desired

Top is whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Presto!

remember my Nana who passed away this morning.

She has been suffering with cancer for 11 years and I have never known a

stronger woman or a greater fighter than her.

She was an incredible and huge influence in my life and was the one

who first introduced me to art of any form.

Being like a second mother to me my whole life I will miss her terribly.

God bless you Nana. You are with the angels now.

I had a SUPER busy weekend and lots to show for it!

Friday night was fairly low key but had lots of work to do in the

E-cave!

I have been working like crazy on my Envelope mini-album and have come

to the conclusion

(with help from a few threads over at Two Peas)

that the style or "theme" of this mini-album

is a cross between Steampunk and my personal vintagey flavor.

I am SUPER excited with how its coming along and can not wait to share it with you guys!

It has been an immense amount of work however and I am about half way through

so it will be a few more days before the finished product is

up for you all to look at but I may squeeze in a little sneaky peak :)

Saturday I spent the day hanging around town grabbing lunch, and getting an awesome package

from my dearest friend containing my favorite childhood Drakes snack

Funny Bones... They don't sell them in Florida and I was SO happy when I opened the package!!!

Saturday night was the Football draft and the hubby dragged

me along although I wanted so badly to work on my mini-book!

Sunday was yet again another rainy day (why is this place called the Sunshine State again?)

so with not much else to do we went out grabbed lunch and poked around a few stores. I was absolutely delighted to find that one of my all time favorite beverages at Starbucks has returned!!!

The pumpkin spice latte....

*insert sound of bliss here*

If you have never had one I strongly recommend you change that pronto!

Somehow my husband managed to get me into Best Buy where (long story short)

after 2 years of denying him the satisfaction of purchasing an overly large 50" plasma flat screen TV

I GAVE IN!!!

I am sort of lazing about today.

Worked all night last night at a retail store so I'm pretty pooped

and its round two tonight there!

I have been working in the E-cave on and off over the past couple of days on a few things for me.

Hello all!

I had a wonderfully relaxing weekend with the Hubby doing a lot of nothing... just relaxing and being content. Its always nice!

We went to Hobby Lobby yet again, and saw lots of wonderful things per usual!

They have been getting in loads of new Tim Holtz things and all of their paper packs

are super cheap (BOGO FREE!)

On top of all the scrappy goodness they also have some of their Halloween stuff out!!!

I know I have said this before but it is my ABSOLUTE favorite time of the year.

I am especially excited because for the first time in over three years I will be in New England for Autumn !!!

We will be home for quite a while visiting family for the first time since out wedding in June of 2009.

How to be alone

I love to be alone in my own little world when I am scrapping,

with my husband in the next room... far enough away that I am not overly distracted by his yelling at whatever sports team is on but close enough that I am warmed by the thought of his posture in the jersey of the day .

Being really alone though is something that I am always fearing...waiting for it to strike with unknown force all together too familiar. My husbands deployment is always in the depths of my thoughts, somewhere amongst the things and thoughts I would rather not think about but cant forget.

Not to get too heavy or anything folks!

I just wanted to share with you an amazing video that I love and intend to incorporate into a LO in the near future.

Happy Thursday everyone!

A bit of a later post today, I have been super busy since 7am this morning!

Client meetings, Dr. Appts, errands and enjoying a couple of hours at Starbucks with a girlfriend.

I have made a few more flowers since my tutorial. They are just so stinkin sweet that

I cant get or make enough of them! Its quite theraputic too. I will sit on the couch with the hubby while we watch football listening to him scream at the tv while I sew flowers...

Its all about bonding right???

I have been tinkering away in my E-cave however creating some pretty scrumptious things!

I came across an adorable little idea today for a mini-book.

Its an envelope mini-book and I think that I am falling head over heels for this

unique method of scrapping.

You can use envelopes of any shape and size depending on how large and how you want

your mini-book to look.

I will provide detailed instructions when I finish my envelope mini-book and have worked out all of the kinks (I am pretty much teaching myself how to make these just from seeing

one picture that I no longer have access to so bare with me!)

and really really hope that you

all participate and make you own and

deployment with her husband.

While SSgt. Heimes was deployed he had very limited phone contact with his loved ones due to

a short supply of phone cards to call the states with.

Monica uses every dollar of her earning to buy phone cards to send overseas so that our soldiers and their families can keep in contact during a very trying time.

With the help of people purchasing her adorable creations

she has been able to send 80 plus phone cards to our soldiers deployed overseas!

Monica and A touch of a Hero have been generous beyond measure already but are going above any beyond by offering products for a few giveaways!

NOT SO

This past weekend was fairly uneventful. Its been raining here most of the time... Why is this

place called the Sunshine state again?

Oh well that just means more time for scrapping and the Hubby :)

Took a drive out to Destin this weekend and went to Michael's.

Their Halloween stuff has begun to creep into the isles!!!

Halloween...its the most wonderful time of the year.

Along with the usual home decor there is all new Martha Stewart scrapping etc. supplies!

There are some really cute things from her this year that I must get my hands on!

Items include but aren't limited to : Boarder punches, stamps, paper pads, fibers, embellies etc!

Along with the various decorations and party supplies.

Its almost my Mom's birthday! I made her card this weekend, nothing too flashy
